Make a Difference in Mexico

Everyone would like to make a difference. Taking the walls down as Joshua did, or taking out the giant in such dramatic fashion as David did, would bring satisfaction to just about any of us. I’d settle, as if it were any less a miracle, for having my small bag of fish and bread feed five thousand. Obviously those are wonderful examples of how our Father chose to bring glory to himself as revealed in His word.

A scenic six-hour bus ride south of Mexico City is a wonderful old colonial town of Oaxaca, Mexico. Hidden in that town of about 500,000 inhabitants is a modern day “bag of fish and bread”. There is a little Christian school that’s sole purpose is to provide educational support to the children of the many missionary families that operate out of this much needy and very diverse area of indigenous tribes. Eighty-five translation teams are supported out of this regional base.

David and Donna Shaver are missionary servants to the missionaries. By David going to serve as an assistant director and multi-discipline teacher in the Oaxaca Christian School (OCS) ministry, he enables the 50+ children’s parents to do what God has called them to do…translate and evangelize. Donna helps by teaching, supporting, organizing, transporting and utilizing her RN nursing skill as needed. Both of them are allowing their little “offering” of service, to enable tens of thousands of native tribe members to hear the gospel and in time, read God’s word in their own heart language.

If you have teaching skills and are being led to be used in a very real and dynamic way…outside our borders, give Steve Evers a call at the ITMI office and he can put you in contact with a “kingdom changing” opportunity (click here).
