Poland Update June 2004
Tucker and Meredith Boone are our new missionaries to Poland – target time for departure is the first week in September, so they have a lot to do in the next three months. They have been in diligent deputation since their approval by the ITMI Board in March. They will be working with ITMI’s Richard and Brooke Nungesser in Poznan. Tucker plans to spend two weeks this month in Poland on a short-term ministry trip with Joni & Friends. While there he hopes to scout out housing possibilities in Poznan.
Some snags have arisen in the process of purchasing property for the New Life Center. It is a bureaucratic delay involving a “master plan” for the building. Maybe you’d like to have a quiet word with the Master concerning His plan for this evangelistic and soul-winning venture. God has given this vision to the Nungessers and we believe He will overcome all the obstacles.
Remember Tomek, the Polish volunteer for Nungesser’s Bread of Life ministry? He has officially joined the BoL staff now. His modest salary of $250 per month will be covered by some surplus funds which remained after purchase of a vehicle for BoL. There is enough money remaining to cover his salary for a year!
Coralanne Nungesser is back in Poland again this year with ITMI for the entire summer. She had so much joy serving Christ last year in this needy land. Her ministry was very effective with youth and street girls. She joins her brother and sister-in-law; together they make up a triple dynamic team. Must run in the family!
By now ITMI’s latest appointees Bob and Sue Taber are getting settled in to the work God has called them to in Poznan. They left last month with a 5-year commitment. Tabers have been friends of Piotr Zaremba for many years and have served short term in Poland on more than one occasion. They’ve received good training at home in California from the Worldwide Perspectives course and plan to serve is various ministries. Bob’s carpentry skills will be a great asset in the renovations of Bread of Life’s NLC. The Lord will also use them to mentor members at the International Church.
Ron Dissly, ITMI’s Financial Officer, and his wife Jane leave for Poland this month and will spend the summer in a variety of ministries under the direction of Piotr Zaremba.
In February this year we introduced Mateusz Ostrowski. His remarkable journey from carnal drug addiction to Christian discipleship activity was outlined in Brooke’s article: “Walk a Mile in My Shoes.” Read it again for a second blessing (it’s on our website: click here). Mateusz and his wife Magdalena have been vetted and approved by the ITMI Board of Directors to work with the Nungessers in their Bread of Life ministry. If you’d like to have a part in this young couple’s vital, soul-winning life-changing work please designate your tax-deductible gift to ITMI for “M.O.” (to give online click here)
