News from Charl van Wyk

Dear Friends

Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Thank you very much for your prayers concerning the verbal and written attack by Muslims on our Field Director, Timothy Keller, and our Director, Dr. Peter Hammond.

One person who faxed a letter with vile insults and threats to Peter has been arrested and will appear in court soon. Please pray for Peter during this time. He has been asked to take part in the Witness Protection Programme, which he cannot do due to his worldwide ministry. A judge dealing with a Muslim court case in Cape Town was once shot dead on his home property while dealing with a specific murder case. So we need to “watch and pray.”

Our radio programmes on Radio Tygerberg are going very well. Our programme has been running for over 10 years now and has been a great asset to the ministry and many pastors say that they listen to our programme because they don’t have time to keep up with everything that is happening in the media and that through our programme they are updated with what is going on in the Christian and contemporary society.

My United States speaking tour was very exciting. I had many meetings around the country, including 6 radio interviews. I was richly blessed by all the folk who hosted me and those whom I met at meetings.

Our ministry to firearm owners, Firearm News magazine, is also doing very well and we are in the process of re-licensing our weapons in South Africa, as the government is going headlong into its time of weapon re-registration.

If present trends continue we shall finally end up with weapon confiscation.Gun Owners of South Africa has enjoyed a wonderful paintballing day at the Breedekloof Festival, which took place on the 15th of October in Rawsonville – a beautiful vine-growing town in the Boland. We manned the Gun Owners of South Africa stall and distributed our Christian literature there.

My book ‘Shooting Back’ is still available at Gun Owners of America: http://www.gunowners.com

On the 28th of October I was one of the speakers at our Reformation Celebration celebrating the day that Martin Luther nailed his articles to the door of the church in Wittenberg.

The family is doing well. Sonja is strong carrying our little baby and we are very excited with the Lord blessing us with a new child. Roberta is convinced our baby will be a sister and so is not even helping to suggest a name for a brother.

Sonja and I were discussing our birthdays, which are both in October, and John-Mark (3) interrupted: “I have my birthday.” I then pointed out to him that he has had his birthday in September. “No”, he said, “I have my birthday, it is still in the kitchen.” So one learns as you go ahead with 3-year olds that they do often know better than you. I suppose one has to define the concepts you are talking about to have a better understanding of where they are coming from.

While I was in the USA our mission organised and ran the Cape Town International Life Chain. Over a million Christians worldwide are involved in this outreach programme. Much literature was handed out to passers by and the team did a great job in standing for the right to life of the pre-born.

The 11th of November is a day of prayer for Zimbabwe. It will be the 40th anniversary of when Rhodesia proclaimed a Unilateral Declaration of Independence. So we will be hosting a Zimbabwe Rally at a town hall during which we will be praying for this nation, which is burdened with the socialist dictator, Robert Mugabe. Marxism has destroyed the economy and the whole fabric of the society in Zimbabwe. Our mission continues to smuggle in food, medicines and Scriptures to Christians suffering there.

Without you and others standing with us it would not be possible to be has
effective as we are in this work for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ as
we seek to fulfil the Great Commission.

In His service
