Church Planting in Durbanville, South Africa
ITMI’s church-planting missionary Rev. Mark Parris agrees with Solomon and believes that “two are better than one.” Ecclesiastes 4:9 At Thanksgiving time he and fellow church planter, Rev. Shawn Hunter brought their congregations together – previously less than two miles apart – and formed the Durbanville Community Church.
“We merged for mission, not survival,” Mark (36) told me over a cup of coffee at the local Mug & Bean last month. “Everyone is very happy with the new arrangement.”
“There are no ego-trips,” Shawn (31) observed. “Everyone is focused on Jesus.”
Their vision is to build a stronger base from which to plant other Bible churches in Southern Africa. Their ministry will multiply by combining manpower and financial resources. It will also be a more efficient use of existing resources. Please join them in prayer for an abundant harvest of precious souls.
